Ask a question

Before there were modern Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras there were Twin Lens Reflex cameras like this one. Twin Lens refers to the two lenses on the front. The top lens gives a preview of what the main lens sees. That preview was shown on a ground glass screen on the top of the camera. Operators would hold the camera at waist level and look down on the glass screen which had pop up side screens. TLRs were the weapon of choice for the keen amateur or professional photographer. They have been around about as long as has photography but they really came into their own after WWII. They are often quite beautiful pieces of industrial art and make lovely lamps. They feature a large Edison style bulb for that extra vintage look. Any photographer who would love one of these pieces.
