Before there were Betamax and VHS there were 8mm cameras. If you wanted to record your vacation at the beach or the kids with Santa you were stuck with 8mm film. 8mm lasted from before WW2 ‘till the middle 70’s when Betamax came out. Over time they got pretty sophisticated featuring elaborate lenses. This Argos camera is from the later days of 8mm. I’m not 100% sure of the age but it screams 60’s cool. It’s a beautiful piece of retro industrial art, it’s old school and slightly Sci-Fi at the same time. It features a huge Edison style bulb to give it that old time look. It’s a lovely piece and anyone who is into photography or film would love it as a gift.
